WORDS FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE
We applaud the sayings of many great men in history but none carry the weight of a man who has come back from the grave to show us the way. We appreciate the inspiration of empire builders but none compare to the one who is building the kingdom of God on Earth. We can follow the mantra of modern day success stories but only one person has been transforming losers to limitless success for 2 thousand years. For the next week we will pause at the special nuggets of truth that Jesus spoke after the grave and see the implications for today’s living.
At the graveside He demonstrated His love for His followers by not not rushing up to heaven to present His blood but first pausing for a moment to talk to the woman who was there. Friday we discussed why He spoke to her. Today we will look at the simple word He spoke that unlocked her world and set her free.
John 20:9
She thought He was the gardener. “Sir,” she said, “if you have taken him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will go and get him.”
“Mary!” Jesus said.
She turned toward him and exclaimed, “Teacher!”
One word from heaven can change your life on earth!
When Mary heard her name, something inside clicked. Revelation came. She was seeing a resurrected man. She had not lost the one she loved, trusted and followed.
This one word answered the question, “does God know me?”..Religions of the world have Gods but Jesus becomes personal. Because He took on flesh and became as one of us, He entered from the infinite into the finite world of matter making us matter. What we do matters. What we say matters. We can find a place in life where Jesus will speak to us our name. You might have your name on a church roster. Your name might be written in the Who’s Who of important people but the only place you really need your name written is in the lamb’s book of life and the only person who you want to really know you is Jesus. He revealed that He is intimate and that He cares about your pain. Peter later wrote to all to cast their cares upon the Lord for He cares for you. Keep your cares there. Do not walk in life like you have a 50 pound bag on your back. He knows your name. He is interested. He will meet you on your journey.
