Instant in Season & Out of Season

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season… 2 Tim 4:2 KJV

This second letter written to Timothy by Paul came at a very difficult time in our Christian heritage. Nero had become emperor of Rome. His insanity was wreaking havoc all over the Roman empire. Ephesus, home to Timothy and to the Roman Proconsul had been selected to have Christianity purged. Believers were dying for their faith.

In the above passage, according to the original Greek language, Paul was telling Timothy to be instant (GK. epi-istimi a military term) or to stay at his post. Literally, this military term meant to remain at the assigned position or… we could say at the post God had given him. When you combine this understanding with the phrase in season and out of season (GK. eu-kairos or a-kairos, literally good times or bad times) a clear message of encouragement can be seen. We might say Paul was telling Timothy to be ready at his ministry post whether times were good or bad and obviously times had become very bad!

No matter what state we find ourselves in, whether striving for good, living in times of economic plenty or stretching into new global territories, we are reminded of Paul’s encouragement to Timothy - BE READY IN ALL SEASONS! Serve with a pure heart! Serve with His motivation to do good and not evil! Serve with passion and a commitment to love at all costs! Serve because Christ’s sacrifice motivates us to action!

Remember,

“let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Heb 12:1-3 NIV

In good times and difficult times, we have chosen to stand at our post! Pray for us. This next week, we are training and interviewing 40 new evangelists and encouraging those who have given their lives through the 100 Tent Project!

We Love YOU!
Leslie

STAY WITH IT

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

After Jesus gave his strongest condemnation of dead religious practice and pointed out a dark period that would come on the earth,

Matt 24:13 but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

He encourages his followers to stay with it and they won’t be sorry. The message of the kingdom will keep going out in good times and in bad. When the world has finally received this witness then the end will come.
Friends, thank you for walking with us in these times. Tomorrow we leave on a plane to talk to regions of people that no one even knows their name. We go carrying the name that everyone will know, Jesus. We appreciate you and carry you on our journey

Blessings,
Kevin and Leslie

THE ATTITUDE OF ACTION

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

A person cannot reproduce what he or she is not. We can only reproduce what we are. When I pastored in Michigan I was upset with my secretary one day and I was going to talk to her about what was making me mad then the Lord spoke to me and said: “she is only doing what you taught her through your example.” I stopped myself and decided the best change for her was a change in myself.

When we know what we know then it is impossible to not act as who we are. When we discover we are the redeemed then it is only natural for us to help others see that they too can be purchased by God’s blood shed on the cross so they also walk free, secure, peaceful, and confident. We become a reflection of God to a world that cannot see God. We become a voice to the world that cannot hear the voice of God. Your life matters. God came out of eternity into our time. God came out of infinity into our finite world and took on flesh that is physical matter. That means that matter matters. What you do in the flesh matters. He became flesh like you to show you how you can operate in flesh. Wow! what a world of possibilities that gives you.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

KEEP YOUR FAITH

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

We know that challenges await us as we arise this morning and opportunity to meet those challenges will determine how we are to face future opportunity. Paul is the example of a man facing great obstacles . He does not wrap his faith around a creed, doctrine, or institution but He says He knows in whom He has believed. It’s important that you become familiar with how Jesus speaks to you and familiar with how you respond to him.

2 Timothy 1:12

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

There is a day when you need confidence to do what looks like an impossible task and your conviction, confidence and courage are what will carry the day. When we were working among the people of Benin, West Africa we experienced one of those moments. This nation is the home of voodoo and every home had a snake trench dug around it. Voodoo huts were normal in every neighborhood. It was a historic time to bring Christ in a fresh dynamic, miraculous way to the nation.

On the opening night of the first crusade, 80,000 people were gathering in the center of the capital but a critical moment was arising. The committee in charge of the outdoor event was discouraged with their progress in setting it up and started to fight; then they just gave up. 5000 people had already arrived and we still did not have lights, sound or most of the platform. I believed it could be done but the leadership did not so I decided to do something that came into my heart. I fired the committee and went to the crowd to ask for 30 boys who were 14 years old. The boys quickly responded to my call and I made them my new committee. We worked harder and quicker than any time in my life to establish sound on towers 90 feet in the air and raise up towers for lights that were 50 feet up. The boys joyfully ran from one assignment to the next and the untested system was switched on 3 minutes before the event was to begin and it worked. No one in the organization could believe that we pulled it off but there was a secret to it. I had to find boys that were young enough that they did not have a picture of failure in their heart. Past experience of failure was what kept the men from moving forward. When I told the boys we could do this event they just believed and worked like it would happen.

The picture you have in your heart is more important than what you have in your wallet, your past, your friends, your education , or anything else. Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flows your life.

USING THE FORCE OF FAITH

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

There are few things that got Jesus to marvel when it came to mankind but He did marvel at the centurion soldier’s faith when he said he would act on the words of Jesus.

When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

Faith is not limited to one people, group, denomination, nationality, or color. Whoever will dare to use it will see the same results as in Bible days wherever they may be and whenever they choose to step out.

There is a law of faith that governs its use. Laws are designed for good. Laws are to protect us and when an offender breaks the law we want him in Jail. There are laws in every area of creation both seen and unseen. For example there are laws that govern the use of gravity and thermodynamics. There are laws that dictate how electricity works. When mankind understood this law they they could harness the power of electricity for good to bless mankind but if that law is broken then what was meant for good can do bad to you. The same heat generated by electricity to cook eggs on your stove will also cook you if you sit on your stove even though it is your stove. The law of Faith is a dynamic given for the good of mankind to bring the blessing of heaven to earth. It is the currency of Heaven. It is the evidence of things not seen. It is the victory that overcomes the world. It is the answer to all things desired. It is what makes possible the things that look impossible.

The first application of this law should be to your own relationship with God. Take that first step today to enter into His presence on the merits of Jesus only and not on your own works. You will be Justified. That is just as if you never sinned.

This is a good place to start.

Romans 3:27
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

The Lord Will Provide!

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. Gen 22:14 NIV

On Monday of this week, we completed preparations for a building inspection on the rear of our facility. When Kevin and I arrived at the facility it appeared that we did not have sufficient help for an on-time completion of the work required by the city. As I stood there wrench in hand ready to work it dawned on me that I don’t work with wrenches. I said to the Lord, this is not the Lord I serve. This is a waste of my time and energy. You have always provided. I have been all over the world and you have always sent the laborers I needed. I said a quick prayer and went about my work.

I remember setting up our 5000 seat tent and installing a 50KW generator for the first time for our first Ukrainian Tent Outreach. The American tent master and electrician we had scheduled canceled at the last minute. Kevin and I had no idea how to set-up a tent or run electricity for this football field size operation.

As you could guess, God did not fail me in the Ukraine and I knew he would not fail me this time. As I stood on that property watching and working about 30 minutes later two car loads of spring breakers pulled up on the property. I said to a staff member let’s ask these young people to help us. No reaction to my suggestion. Just a comment their on spring break they don’t want to work. I remember thinking when I was on spring break I always wanted some pocket cash so I made my way to the end of the parking lot and said hey guys you want to help us for a couple of hours and make some pocket cash. Their reaction was a resounding yes - grocery money for the week!

These six young men were over 6 foot tall with shoulders of weight lifters. One of them regularly bench pressed over 300 pounds. What appeared to be a difficult project SUDDENLY began to move with the swiftness of the wind! God had once again answered my prayer! A load that seemed impossible for me to carry became an enjoyable experience with an energetic bunch of young people who were computer engineers and college students! Not only were they strong but smart!

I told these guys - you may find this strange but today you are an answer to my prayer! They smiled and said, yeah this is amazing we were not suppose to arrive until 5pm. We don’t even know how we got here so quickly! We couldn’t check in at the condo across the street until 5 so we thought we would park on your lot while we waited.

Never forget there is nothing too small for God! Get Him involved with your life and recognize it is not always how much money you have but the promise of God that you have in your heart! HE IS AWESOME! WITH HIM ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!

I have now renamed my property - in this place the Lord will provide!

ONLY BELIEVE!
Leslie

come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost. Isaiah 55:1 NIV

DENIABLE PLAUSIBILITY

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

The God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were. Rom 4:17 NIV

The walk of faith is a learning process. I know that many people believe in the power of a positive attitude but faith is not just a positive attitude. I’ve heard people with a positive attitude say - I deny the existence of this sickness or I deny this reality. I remember a young woman at bible school looking at me and saying. I don’t have a broken leg. I am healed. I was looking at a cast on the woman’s leg. At that moment she obviously had a broken leg. I just chuckled thinking her heart is right she is attempting to exercise a principal that she does not entirely understand. I remember spending a little time instructing her and just a couple of days later the cast was off and in fact she had a manifested healing in her body!

Faith uses our words and our attitudes but faith does not deny current reality. Faith calls on a higher reality. Faith reaches out to the one who took Peter’s hand when he walked on the water. Faith is knowing that regardless of what we see around us we can tap into a greater reality of God’s power in our lives.

Just the other day, someone I was talking to was experiencing symptoms in their body. I heard that old phrase I deny this sickness. I am going to ignore you. Now I understand we can deny sickness the opportunity to enter in or to have authority but, if you are already experiencing the sickness or the problem - denial is not the answer! Connecting with a higher reality is the answer! I suggested to this individual that they get one of my healing books, their bible, or an Osborn book and change their environment for a few minutes and read the healing scriptures out loud.

The power of a higher reality is released as we speak God’s promises over our bodies or situations. Our minds will either agree with the voice of the sickness that is speaking or our minds will agree with the higher reality of Christ the Healer. The greater depth of our Christian reality is experienced when we move from a positive attitude to a positive confession of God’s word in our situations. The choice is ours. The voice is ours and the Victory is Ours!

Give it a try! My friend did and she emerged unscathed from the onslaught of the Norovirus and as she said in her own words - I came off my chair leaping like a dear!

Have a Great Day!
Leslie

For you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. Mal 4:2 NIV

HEAVEN ON EARTH

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

The “new normal ” is a common expression used in America to describe the continued state of economic downturn that most are experiencing. “Just get used to it” is the thought that is tempting most minds today.

All things have a voice and are speaking to you consciously or unconsciously. You are responding to those voices by your behavior and your own words. You are coming into agreement with the new economic reality of less is normal or you are searching for a new voice.

There is a voice out there that still speaks of better days ahead and provision in any economic situation. It’s important to tune in to that voice to build your vision, feed your dream, and keep your faith moving toward the goals you have in your heart.

What does Heaven want you to know? God wants you to know that Heaven and its abundance of supply is still accessible when banks on earth may not be accessible. God wants you to know that He is still listening and responding to prayer. He wants you to know that His supply for every need on earth is still being sent with more than what is needed.

“Blessed be the Lord, who DAILY loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.”

Psalm 68:19

This might be miles away from your personal experience but today is a new day and new beginnings are a reality when new changes are made. Jesus never told a leper just to accept his fate with his skin disease and go back to the leper colony. Jesus never told a hungry crowd that they stayed too long listening to Him so just buckle up and go home hungry with His blessing. Jesus never told the tax collector that he should not want his taxes. He told Peter where to find the tax money. Jesus never said His connection to Heaven’s supply was just limited to one particular group, culture, position or nation.

“For there is no partiality with God.”

Romans 2:11.

If daily the flow of God’s benefits are coming to Earth from heaven and He has not changed nor His idea for humanity then lack must be on our part and not His. We must be hindering the flow of the benefits. It is a flow problem. One of the keys He has given to unstop the clog in the pipe is GIVING TO OTHERS. RELEASE IN ORDER TO RECEIVE.

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete with it shall be measured to you again.”

Luke 6:38

For example, we all need oxygen. Take a deep breath of oxygen and what must you do in order to receive any more oxygen? You must exhale! In order to get more you must release what you have. Who gives the oxygen? We can say it comes from God.

This week we will explore how your financial world can be improved with simple laws that are designed for your increase.

Blessings,

Resurrection Means Peace

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Tyrants from the Time of Nero to today have threatened their people with death if they do not stay under the heal of their dictatorship. Modern day Stalin, Hitler and Pol-pot are examples of this. Then we have religious dictatorship across the Middle East that also uses fear as the main weapon to keep their control.

In the middle of all this demonic threatening we have a group of people that experienced Jesus appearing in their heart that did not bend their knees or their convictions even in the face of the sword. In Neros time they went to their death singing. It was not that they were superhuman but they had a supernatural peace.

We have been talking about what a Resurrected Man is saying to the world.

His first words at the tomb were of responding to invitation and identity but at the upper room He spoke of peace. Peace is one of the major topics of the new testament. Peace is called the umpire of our heart and is used in all our decision making. Jesus is called the Prince of Peace. Whenever Jesus appeared to people He spoke Peace first. Why? Real change in a human being does not occur in who can shout the loudest. Real solutions for critical moments are not found in knee jerk reactions. We must have peace in our soul to see real progress in our life. It is in the seedbed of Peace and tranquility where creativity thrives and answers come forth. It also is the posture we must have to give us inner assurance that stabilizes us for the storms. When Jesus spoke peace to his disciples the bible says that they were glad. Friends, when you find that place of peace you also will find a smile on your lips and a laugh in your heart.

Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had said this, he showed unto them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad, when they saw the Lord. Jesus therefore said to them again, Peace be unto you.
John 20:9

I know your days are busy and so does Jesus. I recommend you spend a few moments to locate your peace. Jesus showed His hands and feet to His disciples and it settled them down. He is showing you the same thing. He is the real deal. He is alive and He is concerned that You are stable. Take a moment and look at those marks on His body. You will get glad too because it means the price is paid. Your world is not going to fall apart. Your future is secure and your past is forgiven. Lighten up.

Blessings,

NOW IS THE BEST TIME

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Finding inspiration in a down economy with polarized media coverage and the fear thermometer heating up can be the greatest challenge of individuals in the coming year so I will keep visiting the places where inspiration is found to provide a quick lift to those on the run.

When the winter nights keep starting earlier and lasting longer it can make time drag you into dormancy like the polar bears but now is not the time to sleep. You need to be at the top of your game and sensitive to the opportunities that your Lord is bringing your way in every area. He has you on His mind and through you He has the world. He can help give the gift that keeps giving: The miraculous life that Jesus personally imparts when we yield to Him and say Yes, Lord. In God’s mind time is the present. Yesterday is gone. All of your victories and defeats are in the past. You can hopefully learn from them or negatively dwell on them but God does not. He is interested in NOW.

He treated us as equals, and so made us equals.

Through Him we both share the same Spirit and have equal access to the Father. That’s plain enough, isn’t it? You’re no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is NOW your home country. You’re no longer strangers or outsiders.

You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone (message eph 2:8)

POSSIBLY THE GREATEST CHALLENGE OF BEING A CHRISTIAN IS THE SENSE OF WANTING TO BE A GOOD ONE.

In reality there is nothing you can do to improve on what God has done for you. Your challenge is in receiving life in this new world now and not putting it off until you feel worthy of it. Christ has made mankind worthy of a righteous relationship with God. Now is the best time to accept that fact and start talking to Him. He is near you. Travel light without the old baggage of yesterday so you can stay fresh and happy in conversation with Him.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:1

Now the impossible is able to be done as you accept the unseen as real to yourself. Lift up your head and take a deep breath of the air in the unseen realm of the spirit. You will breath in faith and expel doubt, fears, and insecurities as you fill your lungs and heart with what you see.

Happy Holidays,
Kevin
