THE NATIVITY STORY

Just the other day a friend shared with us a "Sermon On the Nativity" written hundreds of years ago by St. Augustine of Hippo. This sermon recorded around 426 A.D. carries with it the true meaning of the Spirit of the Christ "Masse". Here is a little excerpt:
"Christ as God was born of His Father, as Man of His Mother; of the immortality of His Father, of the virginity of His Mother; of His Father without a mother, of His Mother without a father; of His Father without limits of time, of His Mother without seed; of His Father as the source of life, of His Mother as the end of death; of His Father ordering all days...
This Christmas, after you've opened all the gifts, do something a little different: gather the family together; read aloud St. Augustine's sermon; reflect on the life-changing significance of this holiday and its personal meaning to you; then gather around the TV and put in a copy of the movie "The Nativity Story" and let this most awesome of celebrations reach into new depths of your soul. After you've finished viewing the video, take a moment reflect on how this film touched your heart then share communion together as a family. For this New Born King who walked as a man, also died as a man taking upon his body the shame, guilt and stigma of our sin and by his broken body he declared us FREE, FORGIVEN, HEALED, AND AT PEACE WITH GOD!
